World Meeting of Families 2018 

The World Meeting of Families which takes place in August in Dublin is a momentous and historic occasion for the Irish Church made even more so by the announcement that Pope Francis will be present in Dublin. 

At present the tickets for the Festival of Families in Croke Park on 25th and the Closing Mass in the Phonenix Park on 26th are not directly available on general release until consultations with the relevant statutory authorities on capacity, transport, security , safety and other issues. When these tickets become available they will be free. Those hoping to attend the Final Mass in Phoenix Park are asked to expect an approximate 3 to 5 km walk from where they park or are dropped by bus to the Mass venue due to security, safety and transport considerations.

The excellent programme of the three-day Pastoral Congress for WMOF2018, from 22nd to 24th August. will take place in the RDS and will offer a daily programme of workshops, discussions as well as fun and prayerful activities for individuals and families. Those who book for the Pastoral Congress in the RDS have a guaranteed opportunity to book a ticket for the Festival of Families and Final Mass. Why is Pope Francis coming to Ireland?
Pope Francis will visit to Ireland to attend and participate in the World Meeting of Families 2018. This large international gathering of families in the world is brought together by the Church every three years and will be hosted in Dublin, Ireland, in 2018.
What events of the World Meeting of Families will Pope Francis be participating in?
Pope Francis will attend the Festival of Families on 25th August and he will also celebrate the Final Mass of WMOF2018 on 26th August. Other details of his itinerary have yet to be confirmed. 
How long will Pope Francis stay in Ireland?
The Holy Father will visit Ireland  on 25-26 August 2018.

The primary reason for Pope Francis’ visit to Ireland is to attend and participate in events of World Meeting of Families 2018.  Pope Francis will have other public engagements during his trip but the details of these are yet to be confirmed. 
How can I get to see Pope Francis?
The two World Meeting of Families 2018 events for which Pope Francis has confirmed attendance are the Festival of Families on 25th August and the Final Mass on Sunday 26th August. These are both free ticketed events. Every adult and child in attendance will require a ticket to access the venues. Tickets will be limited subject to venue capacity and availability. Booking a three day registration to the WMOF2018 Congress guarantees you the opportunity to book a free ticket to the Festival of Families at time of registration, as well as for the Final Mass.
Subject to availability, a limited allocation of tickets to the Festival of Families on Saturday 25th August 2018 and the Final Mass on Sunday 26th August 2018 will be made available through each diocese in Ireland. Further details will be made available in the coming months.

Will Pope Francis meet with the Taoiseach/President Higgins?
Although Pope Francis visit to Ireland is not formally a State visit, it is protocol that the Pontiff would meet with government and state representatives while attending an event in a country.
