“Caring for Our Common Home:

Bringing Laudato sí to life in our Parish Communities”

Morning speakers:

  • Prof John Sweeney (Climatologist) – “From Climate Science to Climate Justice.”
  • Lorna Gold (Trocaire) – “Introduction to Laudato Si”
  • Pádraic Fogarty (Irish Wildlife Trust, Author) – “Biodiversity breakdown in Ireland. How can we respond?”
  • Dermot Lane – “The Spirituality of Laudato Si”

The morning will include time for group discussion

In the afternoon there will be a selection of workshops on the following themes:

  • The Eco-Parish Award – How to become an Eco-Parish.
  • Faith Community Pollinator Plan, how to create spaces for bio-diversity on church grounds.
  • Linking your parish with local authority events
  • Laudato Si, Liturgy and Worship: How to incorporate care for creation in prayer and worship
  • Shankill Parish – “How We Went Green”
  • Energy audits, energy use and how to access community grants to fund your eco-project.

Participants will register for workshops at the venue on the morning itself.

Registration opens at 10am.

There will be many organisations present in the ‘market-place’ of this conference for participants to gather information and see what supports are out there from faith based organisations as well as the wider ecological movement.
